"Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."
- Matt 6:33
What do we look for in our daily lives?
Many of us wander around life rather aimlessly - especially so in Singaporean culture.
Culture here dictates this. You grow up, when you hit 7, you enter the schooling system. You follow through to at least 18 (rarely less, mostly more), enter National Service for 2 years (for the guys), continue with studying (for the uni / higher diploma people)... And finally, at the age of 24, graduate. (Assuming a 4 year uni course and all.)
It's a fixed, rigid lifestyle. We are brought to appreciate things society dictates as "good". For example, straight As in school. Scholarships. Internships. Job offers. High paying careers.
Is that what God says is good?
We were designed to live in a good world - Genesis 1:31 - God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.
We were created, primarily, for fellowship with God. To rule the world under Him. This was the first command given to man.
Is that what we aim to do everyday?
Our next purpose was to have fellowship with one another. Excerpt from Genesis 2:18 - "It is not good for man to be alone."
God created Eve from Adam's flesh for him to have a companion. This was the next thing that we were told to do - to have fellowship with one another. Subtly it also does indicate that men are to lead their wives, and also points to the first marital relationship.
1 John 4:7 - Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.
Proverbs 18:22 - He who finds a wife finds a what is good and receives favor from the Lord.
Clearly, we are told to love one another. Is this what we seek to do daily?
Specifically, (guys) are told that he who finds a wife finds a good thing. Despite the culture that finding a wife/girlfriend means settling down, added responsibilities etc... the Bible clearly tells us it is a good thing.
Then comes the fall of man, and sin. And there will be no more perfect good till Jesus comes. I'll write more tomorrow about what Jesus tells us.

Sometimes you realise what you've been looking for is right in front of you.If we look for the right things, we might just find them. It starts with the Bible.
