Only 3 verses. The Pharisees came and began to argue with Jesus, asking Him for a sign from heaven to test Him. Jesus sighed deeply in His spirit and said, "Why does this generation seek a sign? Truly, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation." And He left them.
Really. After 7 chapters worth of signs, they still ask for signs?
It's kind of similar to the previous passage on Jesus feeding the four thousand. Be it disciple, apostle, Pharisee, or common Jew, even common Gentile - people are stubborn. They refuse to change.
